White House Seeks Help from Top Court Following Failed Bid to Block Snap Payment Order
Last Friday, shortly after a federal appeals court ruled that the White House must pay for Snap food aid payments, the administration appealed to the supreme court in a further effort to block the directive.
Not long after, the top US court handed down an emergency order immediately suspending entire Snap food aid benefits, which nearly 42 hundred thousand people count on to feed their families.
“Our attorneys persist in fighting, continuously, to support and promote our agenda,” a senior official announced on social media around 9:30pm local time.
White House staff had requested the appellate court to overturn a judicial decision mandating they issue November’s full monthly food stamp payments during a federal closure, and was denied that afternoon.

The high court’s decision was issued after the administration requested a national appeals court this past Friday to block a judicial directive requiring them to distribute this month's complete Snap assistance amid a government funding lapse.
Subsequent to that appeal to halt was denied, the government sought help from the nation's top court in a further bid to prevent the ruling to pay for food stamp benefits.
