The co-creator of Call of Duty, the mind behind the immensely successful video game Call of Duty, has tragically died in a vehicle crash in Los Angeles, California he was 55 years old.

Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the video game company which he helped establish.

The renowned game designer lost his life when his car crashed and caught fire on a freeway in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, according to.

"This represents a devastating loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, his family, and the countless individuals inspired by his creative vision," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts stated.
