The Red Devils Poised to Sign Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Acquisition for the WSL Side
Schüller, who has six months left on her deal, has been a prolific goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. This signing will be seen as a marquee signing for the WSL side.
Departure from Bayern was expected after she was seen fighting back tears while applauding the club's fans following a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its top strikers. Per multiple sources, the formalities for the move are now finalised.
Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen the Attack
The 28-year-old’s arrival is expected to provide a significant uplift to the team's attacking options. Schüller has been highly consistent with her finishing in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven straight seasons, including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She won the top scorer award in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.
Building Steam at Old Trafford
Securing Schüller’s signature comes at a time when United appear to be gathering momentum.
Recent performances include securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.
In the transfer market, the mid-season window has brought further activity:
- The signing of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.

Regarding Miyazawa’s extension, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability enables her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
