The President Invites Relatives of Shot National Guard Personnel to White House

President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Mourners came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid law enforcement in the capital.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that teachers hoped for. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, informed the press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial details for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Steps and Government Revisions

Officials have charged a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the administration to pause asylum applications and cease granting visas to possessors of travel documents.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with excellence, according to the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” he addressed the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
