Stateside actor Pat Finn, who featured in beloved programs like "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles recently after undergoing cancer treatment beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones said in a message.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable TV Career
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, like:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Outside of his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted online.
Finn is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
