Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his future after another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted known weaknesses from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period like this with results like these.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, prove once more the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
